How to reach us

Call (718) 484-7510. Our office is in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Immigration law is federal, so we advise on the immigration consequences of criminal cases from anywhere in the United States and appear before the immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals and USCIS throughout the country and its territories.

Hours

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern. Same-day appointments are often available. The phone line is answered around the clock, because a plea date does not wait and ICE does not work business hours.

Languages

We speak English, Russian, Spanish and Uzbek in-house. We arrange live interpretation for other languages. Mikhail Usher personally speaks English, Russian and Spanish.

Getting here

The office is in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, near the B and Q trains at Sheepshead Bay station. Tell us when you make the appointment if you need help with directions or with accessibility.

For criminal defense lawyers

If you have a noncitizen client and a plea date, call and say so. We can usually get you a written read on the offered plea before the next appearance, and we will tell you what to ask for instead.

Before you send anything by email

Do not email your alien registration number, passport scans, the criminal complaint or any court documents until we have confirmed we can review your matter. Sending us information does not make you a client and does not make what you send privileged. An attorney-client relationship begins only when we and you sign a written retainer agreement.

What to have ready when you call

  • The charge, as it appears on the complaint or the indictment, and the court it is in.
  • The plea that is being offered and the sentence that comes with it, if you know them.
  • Your next court date.
  • Your immigration status, and whether anything is pending with USCIS or the immigration court.
  • Every prior arrest, anywhere, and what happened to it.
  • The summary the plea tool copied for you, if you ran it.

If you do not have some of this, call anyway. We can work most of it out on the phone.

Detained after an arrest

If ICE has taken someone into custody after an arrest or a plea, call rather than writing. Have the person's full legal name as it appears on their documents, date of birth, country of birth, where and when they were taken, and what the criminal charge was.
